MADISON, S.D. – Caitlin Pick (hitter) of Dakota State (S.D.) and Katie Wangberg and Paige O'Connor of Mayville State (N.D.) were picked as North Star Athletic Association Volleyball Players-of-the-Week honors.  The eighth edition of NSAA volleyball weekly honors were announced Monday.

NSAA Volleyball Hitter of the Week
Caitlin Pick – Dakota State (S.D.) – 5'10", Junior, middle blocker – Kimball, S.D. – Pick smashed a total of 35 kills (3.9 kills per set) with a hitting percentage of .415 as the Trojans went 2-1 for the week.  She also added seven block assists (3.5 total blocks) and a service ace.  Pick recorded her eighth double digits kills in the last 12 matches.

NSAA Volleyball Setter of the Week
Katie Wangberg – Mayville State (N.D.) – 5'7", Junior, setter – Pine River, Minn. – Wangberg produced a total of 52 set assists to help the Comets to an undefeated week in two matches.  She recorded 38 assists in 3-1 victory over Valley City State (N.D.).  Wangberg averaged 7.4 assists per set and recorded 8 kills for the week.  She added 14 total digs in two matches.    

NSAA Volleyball Libero Player of the Week
Paige O'Connor – Mayville State (N.D.) – 5'3", Freshman, defensive specialist – St. Michael, Minn. – O'Connor accumulated a total of 49 digs, including 34 digs versus Valley City State (N.D.), as the Comets went undefeated in two matches last week.  She averaged 7.0 digs per set and recorded two service aces.  O'Conner went perfect behind the serving line, converting all 36 serves.  She had a .943 reception percentage (35 receptions with 2 errors).

Recap from last week's action
The North Star Athletic Association ended their volleyball schedule last weekend with the top two teams recording a victory.  Jamestown (N.D.) swept Presentation (S.D.) in three straight sets and Mayville State (N.D.) defeated Valley City State (N.D.) in four sets. 

Dakota State went 2-1 for the week, defeating long-time rival Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) in four sets and Central Baptist (Ark.) 3-0 in the Waldorf (Iowa) triangular.

Presentation recorded two home victories over Trinity Bible (N.D.) and Oak Hills.

Looking Ahead
Dakota State, Mayville State, Presentation and Valley City State will play their final regular-season matches this week.  DSU welcomes in-state rival University of Sioux Falls (S.D.) at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening.

Presentation will play in a triangular in Morris, Minn. on Tuesday night versus Crown (Minn.) and host-team Minnesota-Morris.

Valley City State travels to Dickinson State (N.D.) on Thursday night in Dickinson, N.D.

Mayville State visits Dickinson State on Tuesday and return home Friday to host Saint Mary (Neb.).

The inaugural NSAA Volleyball Conference Postseason Tournament kicks off Saturday night with a quarterfinal match between Presentation and Dakota State.  First serve is set for 7 p.m. in Madison, S.D.  The conference postseason tournament continues on Nov. 6 and Nov. 9.
