MADISON, S.D. – The top North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) runners at the Mount Marty (S.D.) Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 26 were named to the cross country weekly honors, announced Tuesday.
NSAA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Aleona Reyes – Jamestown (N.D.) – Senior – Belen, N.M. – Reyes clocked a personal best time of 18 minutes and 27 seconds to gain a second-place overall in the 129-runners race in Yankton, S.D. The Jimmies finished third out of 12 teams in the meet.
NSAA Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Michael Hoffman – Dakota State (S.D.) – Senior – Beresford, S.D. – Hoffman was the top NSAA men's runner in the Mount Marty (S.D.) Invitational. He finished with a time of 26 minutes and 13 seconds to earn 12th-place finish in 159-runners field. The Trojans finished ninth as a team.
Dakota State, Jamestown and Valley City State (N.D.) will compete in the postseason qualifying conference meet on Saturday, Nov. 9 in Lawrence, Kan., hosted by Haskell (Kan.). They will be running with members of the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference (MCAC) for their chances to qualify for the NAIA Nationals, which is held on Nov. 23 in Lawrence, Kan. The women's race is set for 10:30 a.m. with the men's race to follow at 11:15 a.m.
