MADISON, S.D. – Katherine Gonzalez (libero) of Dakota State (S.D.) and Josette Glatt and Katie Wangberg of Mayville State (N.D.) were picked as North Star Athletic Association Volleyball Players-of-the-Week honors. The ninth edition of NSAA volleyball weekly honors were announced Monday.
NSAA Volleyball Hitter of the Week
Josette Glatt – Mayville State (S.D.) – 6'1", Junior, right side – Bismarck, N.D. – Glatt smashed at least 15 kills in each of the three matches as the Comets went 2-1 for the week, including a pair of 3-0 victories at Dickinson State (N.D.) and versus Saint Mary (Neb.). She averaged 4.9 kills and 0.7 blocks per set. Glatt tallied a total of 49 kills and 7 block assists. She hit .430 for the week (49 kills with 9 errors in 93 attempts).
NSAA Volleyball Setter of the Week
Katie Wangberg – Mayville State (N.D.) – 5'7", Junior, setter – Pine River, Minn. – Wangberg accumulated a total of 88 set assists as Mayville State went 2-1 for the week with a pair of 3-0 victories over Dickinson State (N.D.) and Saint Mary (Neb.). She added 16 kills (1.6 kills per set) with a hitting efficiency of .483 and amassed 30 digs. Wangberg averaged 8.8 assists and 3.0 digs per set. She recorded two double-doubles last week – 26 assists and 13 digs at Dickinson State and 32 assists and 11 digs versus Saint Mary.
NSAA Volleyball Libero Player of the Week
Katherine Gonzalez – Dakota State (N.D.) – 5'3", Junior, defensive specialist – Pico Rivera, Calif. – Gonzalez led the Trojans' defense with 20 digs (3.3 digs per set) as Dakota State split a pair of matches. She recorded 10 digs versus the University of Sioux Falls (S.D.). Gonzalez added 10 digs and three service aces as the Trojans won their inaugural NSAA volleyball postseason match. For the week, she recorded a perfect reception percentage in 31 attempts and a service percentage of .952.

Dakota State dropped their regular-season finale to NCAA Division II University of Sioux Falls (S.D.) in three straight sets. Presentation split a pair of matches in the Minnesota-Morris triangular, defeating Crown (Minn.) but dropped the final regular-season match to host-team Minnesota-Morris
Dakota State kicked off the inaugural North Star Athletic Association Postseason Volleyball Conference Tournament with a 3-0 sweep over Presentation (S.D.). The Trojans won by the scores of 25-12, 25-15 and 25-23 and advanced to the semifinals. The Saints finished their 2013 campaign with an overall record of 12-18 and 1-7 in NSAA conference play.
Mayville State went 2-1 for the week with a pair of 3-0 victories at future NSAA member Dickinson State and 3-0 regular-season home finale victory over Saint Mary. The Comets dropped a 3-1 road contest at NCAA DivisionII Minot State (N.D.).
Valley City State (N.D.) lost their regular-season volleyball match at Dickinson State in three straight sets.
The inaugural NSAA Volleyball Conference Postseason Tournament continues this week. The semifinals take place on Wednesday as the top-seed Jamestown (N.D.) hosts No. 4 seed Dakota State in Jamestown, N.D. and No. 2 seed Mayville State welcomes No. 3 seed Valley City State in Mayville, N.D.
The semifinal winners move on to the first-ever NSAA Volleyball Conference Postseason's championship match on Saturday. The championship match takes place at the highest remaining seed after the results of Wednesday's matches.
All matches are slated to start at 7 p.m.
