MADISON, S.D. – Kylie Westover of Dakota State (S.D.) was selected as the first-ever North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week, announced Monday.

Kylie Westover – Dakota State (S.D.) – 5'7" – Senior – Guard – Colman, S.D. – Westover averaged 16.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game as Dakota State went 2-2 for the week.  She scored in double digits in all four games, which extended her streak to 15 consecutive games that she scored in double digits.  In addition, Westover drained at least 2 3-pointers in all four games, extending her streak to 12 straight games with at least 2 3-pointers made (10 3-pointers made for the week).  She nailed down a buzzer-beater shot in 54-53 road victory at McPherson (Kan.) on Jan. 3.

Preseason NSAA conference favorite Jamestown (15-1 overall record, No. 5 in the latest NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Coaches' national poll) extended their winning streak to 12 games after a pair of victories over ranked opponents in the Briar Cliff (Iowa) Holiday Classic.  The Jimmies held on to a 67-66 victory over No. 13 Morningside (Iowa) on Dec. 30 and No. 19 Briar Cliff 74-63 on Dec. 31.

Valley City State (N.D.) returned back to .500 with an overall record of 6-6 after defeating the University of Minnesota-Morris 77-55 on Jan. 4.

Dakota State went 2-2 for the week.  The Lady T's dropped a pair of losses in the Briar Cliff Holiday Classic to nationally-ranked Morningside and Briar Cliff.  DSU bounced back in the winning column as they kicked off their 2014 calendar year with a pair of victories in the McPherson (Kan.) Classic, sweeping a pair of Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) foes (including a 54-53 buzzer-beater victory at McPherson and 67-59 victory versus Bethel, Kan.).

Both Mayville State (N.D.) and Presentation (S.D.) were idle last week and did not play since Dec. 18.  The Comets – No. 20 in the latest NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Coaches' 'Top 25' – are 11-2 overall record and dropped a 71-62 exhibition loss to NCAA Division I University of North Dakota.  The Saints are 4-10 overall record and suffered a 77-47 home defeat to Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) in their last game on Dec. 18.

Looking Ahead
Presentation returns back to action on Tuesday night as they travel to NCAA Division III Minnesota-Morris at 5:30 p.m.  The Saints are scheduled to visit Mount Marty (S.D.) on Saturday in Yankton, S.D. at 2 p.m.

Mayville State and Valley City State head to Denver, Colo. to play a pair of Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) foes this weekend.  The Comets and Vikings each will play Northern New Mexico and host-team Johnson & Wales (Colo.) on Friday and Saturday.

Dakota State returns home Friday night to kick-off their three-game home stand.  The Lady T's welcome their in-state rival Mount Marty at 7 p.m. in Madison, S.D.

Jamestown plays at home for the first time in a month as they host Oglala Lakota (S.D.) on Sunday.  Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. in Jamestown, N.D.
