MADISON, S.D. – Garrett Tenney (Field) of Jamestown (N.D.) and Seth Boomsma (Track) of Dakota State (S.D.) were selected to the inaugural North Star Athletic Association Men's Indoor Track & Field Player-of-the-Week honors, announced Tuesday.
North Star Athletic Association Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Garrett Tenney – Jamestown (N.D.) – Senior – Gardnerville, Nevada – Tenney set a Jamestown school record in the weight throw with a toss of 16.15 meters (53 feet) at Northern State (S.D.) Open last Saturday. As a result, he won the individual title.
North Star Athletic Association Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Seth Boomsma – Dakota State (S.D.) – Junior – Crooks, S.D. – Boomsma produced a national qualifying time in the men's 55-meter dash at the Dordt (Iowa) Open last Saturday. He won the 55-meter dash prelims with a time of 6.46 seconds and advanced to the finals. Boomsma claimed the individual title by improving his time to 6.32 seconds in the finals. He finished ahead of runners from NCAA Division II schools and was 10 seconds faster than the second place runner from Southwest Minnesota State (6.42 seconds).
Jamestown (N.D.) continues their action on Friday as they head to St. Paul, Minn. to compete in the St. Thomas Invitational.
Dakota State (S.D.) is slated to participate in the Wildcat Open on Saturday, hosted by Wayne State. The meet is hosted by Wayne State (Neb.).
Valley City State (N.D.) is idle this week and won't return back to action until Saturday, Feb. 1 in the Cobbler Duels in Concordia, Minn.
