Men's Indoor Track & Field - Tue, Feb. 11, 2014

MADISON, S.D. – Garrett Tenney of Jamestown (N.D.) and Zach Ely of Dakota State (S.D.) were selected to the fourth edition of the North Star Athletic Association Men's Indoor Track & Field Players-of-the-Week honor, announced Tuesday.  Tenney was selected to the Field Athlete of the Week, while Ely was named to Track Athlete of the Week. 

North Star Athletic Association Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Garrett Tenney – Jamestown (N.D.) – Senior – Gardnerville, Nev. – Tenney broke the UJ school record for the third time this season in the men's weight throw.  He threw a measurement of 16.40 meters (53 feet and 9.75 inches) to capture the men's weight throw individual title at the Thundering Herd meet.  There were a total of 15 throwers in the men's weight throw open division, featuring throwers from NCAA schools.

North Star Athletic Association Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Zach Ely – Dakota State (S.D.) – Junior – Colton, S.D. – DSU's Ely continued to improve his personal best time in the men's 60-meter hurdles for the third straight week.  He clocked a time of 8.59 seconds for a second-place finish in the men's 60-meter hurdles prelims at the Dakota Realty Alumni Track & Field held at the USD DakotaDome.  Ely improved his time to 8.54 seconds (new personal best time) to earn a runner-up honor in the 60-meter hurdles finals. 

Looking Ahead
Dakota State (S.D.) heads to Sioux Center, Iowa on Saturday to participate in the Dordt (Iowa) Invitational.

Jamestown (N.D.) and Valley City State (N.D.) travels to Fargo, N.D. Saturday to compete in the North Dakota State Bison Open.
