MADISON, S.D. – Garrett Tenney of Jamestown (N.D.) and Seth Boomsma of Dakota State (S.D.) were selected to the final edition of the North Star Athletic Association Men's Indoor Track & Field Players-of-the-Week, announced Tuesday. Tenney was named to Field Athlete-of-the-Week. Boomsma was picked to the Track Athlete-of-the-Week.
North Star Athletic Association Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Garrett Tenney – Jamestown (N.D.) – Senior – Gardnerville, Nev. – Tenney broke Jimmies' record in the weight throw for fourth time this season after capturing the title at the Bemidji State (Minn.) Twilight Meet. He qualified for the NAIA Nationals after recording a school record measurement of 17.00 meters (55 feet and 9.25 inches).
North Star Athletic Association Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Seth Boomsma – Dakota State (S.D.) – Junior – Crooks, S.D. – DSU's Boomsma clocked a time of 6.94 seconds in the 60-meter dash prelims at the Buena Vista Open. He improved his time to 6.85 seconds in the finals as he prepares for the upcoming NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships meet. Boomsma currently owns the second fastest-time in the nation.
The 49th Annual Men's and 34th Annual Women's NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships meet will be held on March 6 through March 8. The national meet takes place at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
