VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The University of Jamestown (N.D.) had to rallied back from a 5-0 deficit to defeat Mayville State (N.D.) 6-5 to earn the NAIA Baseball Unaffiliated North Star Athletic Association/Frontier Conference Postseason Tournament Championship Monday afternoon at the Charlie Brown Stadium, hosted by Valley City State University (N.D.).

No. 2 seed Mayville State (N.D.) kicked off the game by exploding for four runs in the opening inning and extended their lead to 5-0 in the second inning. 

Top-seed UJ broke their scoring drought with two runs scored in the fifth inning and a run in the sixth to cut Comets' lead to 5-3.  The Jimmies mounted a comeback in the eighth inning with three runs scored to overtake the lead from MSU at 6-5.

Mayville State left runners on third and second bases as the Jimmies secured the victory, earning an automatic bid to the NAIA Baseball National Tournament Opening Round.  The Jimmies are 35-8 overall record and went 4-0 in the postseason qualifying tournament.

The Comets are 40-14 overall record and will have to wait and see if their season will continue at the national tournament.
