JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The top-seed Dickinson State (N.D.) captured the NAIA Softball Unaffiliated North Star Athletic Association/Frontier Conference Postseason Tournament in a walk-off fashion over No. 4 seed Great Falls (Mont.) Sunday afternoon at Lyle Lawrence Field, hosted by the University of Jamestown (N.D.).

Dickinson State, who had won 22 straight games, had to rallied back from a 1-0 sixth inning deficit and tied the game in the bottom sixth frame.  The Blue Hawks added a run in the final inning for a thrilling victory over the Argos.  Great Falls ended their season with a 17-17 overall record.

As the result, Dickinson State earned an automatic bid to the NAIA Softball National Tournament Opening Round with an overall record of 39-13.  The NAIA will announce the brackets and pairings with a free video selection show (www.naia.org) on May 6.  The pairings for the 40-team softball national championship opening round tournament will be announced at 7 p.m. (Central Time).

The softball opening rounds will be contested from May 12-14 at 10 various sites with four teams playing in a double-elimination format at each location. For more information on those 10 sites, click here.

The softball national championship qualifiers will be announced on NAIA.org at 5 p.m. on May 6.

The video will appear on NAIA.org roughly five minutes prior to the start of the show.
